The semi-automatic crossbow is probably best for stealth though. You don't have to charge up any shots, and you get quite a few rounds. Which allow you to take out several guys in succession. Though I don't think its as powerful as a fully charged arrow from a bow. If you have 4 slots, I would have both. Early game, the bow works fine, but even in far cry 3 I noticed that by late game the bow was only useful for it's explosive arrows (which you can just carry a grenade launcher for). I would think it's entirely possible. I've found the bow to really be an extremely OP weapon. Seriously, silent for stealth, it's great at mid to long-ish range when you get a feel for the arc, it does tons of damage, and is also quite good in knife-fight range if you fire from the hip. Ammo management needs a bit of work but the recurve and compound bow never disappoint! One shot to the head 95% of the time.
